Sep 19 (Reuters) – Italy may be without Marco Verratti for upcoming Nations League games after the Paris St Germain midfielder had to be substituted on Sunday with a calf injury.

Verratti was forced off the field in the 64th minute of the 1-0 Ligue 1 win at Olympique Lyonnais and PSG coach Christophe Galtier said he would be examined on Monday.

“I’m worried because if Marco can’t continue, it’s because he’s injured,” Galtier told reporters.

“He was supposed to join his national team tonight but he will return to Paris to do some tests.

“It’s a punch in the calf, a pretty big one.”

Italy host England in Milan on Friday before traveling to Budapest three days later to meet Hungary.
