The Skyhawks (1-2) took to the streets for their final contest, marginalizing Southeastern Conference opponents Missouri. UT Martin led at half-time before finally losing to Mizzou by a final score of 60-55.

UT Martin’s freshman group played a big part in the team’s Missouri matchup. The team had four freshmen who saw action for over 23 minutes while collectively scoring 45 of the team’s 55 points that night. Reigning OVC Player and Newcomer of the Week, Kenley McCarn the team advanced with 15 points Anaya Brown and Josie Storey scored nine points. Sharnecce Currie jelks was not far behind with eight own points.

In addition to the team’s freshmen, the Skyhawks have three previous season All-OVC award winners Paige Pipkin, Shae Littleford and Seygan Robins. Each of the players has already posted double-digit scores this season, with Pipkin in second place with 14.0 points per game.

The Skyhawks will face off against a loaded field, with the team’s three opponents going a combined 7-3 mark. Marshall enters the tournament field with a 1-1 aggregate record while both Norfolk State and Purdue Fort Wayne are 3-1 this season.

The story is limited between the three non-conference opponents. UT Martin has only played Marshall once in program history, losing a 65-48 match in 2009. Meanwhile, the Skyhawks and Spartans have never met. The Skyhawks also faced Purdue Fort Wayne twice in program history, notching wins in both competitions — including a 71-59 win in 2007.
