Roblox is investigating Immersive Ads, a product aimed at gamers aged 13+ that will work in conjunction with new age guidelines for the platform, allowing some experiences to be shared across different age groups.
All Roblox ads will be marked as immersive ads, the company says, and children under the age of 13 won’t be able to engage with them. The new ad system, meanwhile, is a way for brands to promote the Roblox experience through interactive billboards, posters, and other surfaces. In addition to the interactive ads, there are Roblox experiences that are aimed at adults, such as games that are marketed to players aged 17 and over. Accounts, whether owned by players, may have parental controls to restrict or disable various communication features, including who they can communicate with within a game or the website, who they can message and who they can track in games and who invite them to VIP servers.
