During the forthcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake is exciting, many others resident Evil Games deserve the remake treatment instead. The franchise has a long history spanning multiple games, and there are a few that would benefit greatly from some gameplay modernizations and graphical improvements. This is especially true for the rarely discussed entries in the series, and other big ones as well, some of which rank among the scariest games resident Evil has to offer.
Capcom started releasing a stream of resident Evil remakes with Resident Evil 2 in 2019. It received critical acclaim and fans loved the game too. A remake of Resident Evil 3, which was launched in 2020. It was also well received across the board, but was not as popular as its predecessor. A remake of follows Resident Evil 4, which is scheduled to be launched in early 2023. These games weren’t the first in the franchise to get a remake; this title belongs to the first resident Evilwhich was re-released for the GameCube in 2002.
While some outdated resident Evil While choices are still important, the new remakes differ from 2002 in several key ways. While the modernized third-person gameplay is the most important update in the games, the fine-tuning of storytelling and tone are just as crucial to what’s new resident Evil remakes. The following games deserve to be remade with these considerations in mind. This not only introduces them to a new generation of fans, as the recent ones have done pretty well, but also serves to add more possibilities to Capcom’s Remake lineup.
Resident Evil Survivor is overlooked and deserves a remake
Resident Evil survivor is an often overlooked game in the franchise, and understandably so. It was not rated well when launched in 2000. The game was relatively simple, resulting in a very short running time. It was also a notable departure from the previous entries in the series, as it featured a first-person camera instead of the fixed camera perspective. resident evil 1 is now playable in the first-person perspective thanks to a fan remake. The new camera perspective for survivor resulted in a poor translation of the assets and animations imported from the previous game, making it quickly look outdated.
Despite all the shortcomings Resident Evil survivor There’s a lot to be said for it, giving it serious potential for a remake. The story was one of the most interesting points for her, especially with its branching narrative paths. The plot revolves around a small T-Virus outbreak that appeared on a remote island after the Raccoon City incident. The protagonist Ark Thompson crashes on the island and loses his memory. He later recalls his identity as an agent sent by Leon Kennedy (now more mature in RE4‘s remake) to investigate an Umbrella facility on the island.
While the writing is roughly on par with video game stories of the era, it could use some touch-ups. Overall, the narrative still holds up and makes for excellent remake material. A Resident Evil survivor Remake could add more depth to the branching story choices, or give it a more defined narrative structure while better fitting it into the subtly revised canon established in the remakes. The gameplay would also lend itself well to a modern tune-up. It could better implement the first-person perspective used in Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. Or it could use the third-person gameplay style that recent remakes are using and adding to as well village‘s shadow of the rose DLC.
Resident Evil 1 would be great in third person
The first resident Evil started in 1996 with great success and was the birth of the survival horror genre. Capcom released a remake of the game with numerous improvements in 2002 and later remastered it in HD in 2015. Graphics have been updated with all new 3D models and higher resolution textures. Gameplay mechanics have been rebalanced to improve game flow and feel, such as: B. Adding defensive weapons. The puzzles were changed, presenting a new challenge for fans of the classic, and the remake also expanded the story with a refined storyline, re-recorded audio, and the inclusion of sub-plots cut from the original.
With all these additions, 2002 resident Evil was essentially a new game, so it makes sense why Capcom decided to start with the new remakes instead Resident Evil 2, one of the best games in the series. However, the areas where it was most faithful to the classic that set it apart from the more recent remakes are the tank controls and fixed camera. While the game is still great in its current state, it would be exciting to see gameplay updates in a remake that are more in line with what was recently released. Exploring the Spencer Mansion with a tight shoulder cam would be wonderfully awful. Even if it were his second remake, the original resident Evil deserves to be presented in the style of the new remakes.
RE Zero Remake could bring Rebecca Chambers back
Resident Evil Zero, which features lost characters that the next game might bring back, was released to critical acclaim in 2002 and has become a popular entry in the franchise. It offers a standalone story but is more than just a spin-off. It fleshed out the lore behind some of the series’ most influential characters, such as Albert Wesker, and detailed the events that took place before the first’s storyline resident Evil. The narration follows Rebecca Chambers as she investigates reports of strange activity in the Arklay Mountains. She forms an uneasy alliance with a convict, Billy Coen, and together they bring to a halt biological experiments gone awry at an Umbrella facility.
It’s an oddity and a shame that Capcom has another remake Resident Evil Zero, given its solid reputation. However, with Rebecca Chambers’ supplement Dead by daylight, there has never been a better time to re-read the story. The game’s atmosphere is already spooky and well done, so a remake with a refined focus on survival horror and improved storytelling would make a great game even better. As with the other remakes, this could be bolstered by updated gameplay that switches from the fixed camera to the third-person perspective.
Claire Redfield would shine in a Code: Veronica remake
When it was released in 2000, Resident Evil code: Veronica was hailed as the best game in the series. This was due in large part to the outstanding graphical improvements it featured. The story was also praised, and Claire Redfield’s status as a protagonist played a significant role in its success. The game is a direct sequel to Resident Evil 2 and shows Claire and her brother defeating Chris Wesker, who may return resident evil 9and a secret Umbrella facility.
Code: Veronica is one of the biggest resident Evil Don’t play yet, and it deserves an overhaul for a modern gaming experience. Improved gameplay alone would make a remake for this game so much more appealing. Still, another run through the story could present a more compelling character arc for Claire Redfield and expand her potential for a return resident evil 9 or future versions. After surviving the Raccoon City outbreak, a more battle-hardened Claire might well be reflected in the more advanced move set given to Jill Valentine in the Resident Evil 3 make new.
There is a treasure trove of resident Evil Games with remake potential that Capcom seems to be leaving on the table. select reissue Resident Evil 4, notably absent from TGS 2022 before touching on these games, seems to indicate that they do not intend to remake them since they take place before the events of Leon’s Adventures in Spain. It will be a huge disappointment if that comes true because in many ways these games are more deserving of a remake.
