September’s free PS Plus games for the Essential tier are being announced this week and will include playable titles on PS4 and PS5 consoles.
The information is shared directly by Sony and includes all the latest news for the company’s cheapest subscription tier.
And even before that happens, fans will likely be accessing early information via the usual leaks that surface ahead of the big announcement.
Fans have spotted a release they think might be included in next month’s free pick, but they’ll have to wait for Sony to officially confirm it later this month.
PS Plus September 2022 time for the release of the free games
September 2022 Essential Tier Free PS Plus Games will be announced by Sony on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 8:30am PDT / 11:30am EDT / 4:30am BST.
The tech giant is set to announce the next three titles that will be added to its Essential tier for September, and there’s always a chance that a few surprises will be thrown into the mix, too.
Another announcement will be made next month that will only affect those fans who have PlayStation Plus Premium. This is the most expensive tier of Sony’s revamped membership, which merged with PlayStation Now and is updated monthly to include new titles for the library. However, while new games are coming and some will also leave the service, these reveals won’t happen until mid-September.
Are there any confirmed Playstation Plus games?
No leaks have been confirmed yet as to what new games will be coming to PlayStation Plus next. However, fans have spotted some releases that go well with the new games. Sony’s August 2022 PlayStation Blog post confirms that the release date for the next batch of freebies is September 6th.
And that’s when The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition comes to PlayStation Store. Combine that with the fact that you can’t pre-order the game, and there’s a chance it might be announced as part of PS Plus in September. Biomutant is another possibility since the release date is the same as The Tomorrow Children, but this seems less likely.
What is PlayStation Plus Premium and how much does it cost?
Sony’s most expensive subscription tier includes everything currently available as part of the service, including free monthly games, exclusive discounts, Plus Collection, Share Play and Essential online multiplayer, as well as free express shipping direct from PlayStation, the games catalogue, Ubisoft+ Classics, Classics -Catalog, trials and cloud streaming. The current prices are as follows:
US: $17.99 monthly / $49.99 quarterly / $119.99 annually.
Europe: €16.99 monthly / €49.99 quarterly / €119.99 annually.
UK: £13.49 monthly / £39.99 quarterly / £99.99 annually.
Japan: ¥1,550 – monthly / ¥4,300 – quarterly / ¥10,250 annually.
