Pittsburgh – The University of Pittsburgh women’s basketball team will play two games during its tour of Italy from August 6-16. Pitt embarks on his 10-day, nine-night trip Saturday afternoon, which includes stops in Rome, Florence, Vicenza, Trieste and Venice.
The Panthers will depart from Pittsburgh on Saturday, August 6 and take an overnight flight to Rome, where they will spend two days touring St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.

After some exploration in Rome on Tuesday morning, August 9th, the team and tour group will take a train trip to Florence where they will settle down and explore the city by night. You will take part in some guided tours of the Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio and the Leather Market of San Lorenzo on Wednesday 10th August.
Pitt will travel by bus to Vicenza on Thursday, August 11 where they will play their second and final game of the trip against the Vicenza All-Stars at 1:00pm ET.
The next day the team will travel to Trieste for two days where they will experience guided sightseeing tours of the city as well as a short day trip to a beach in Portoroz, Slovenia and a visit to Piran, Slovenia.
The last two days of the trip (14-15 August) will be spent in Venice, where the group will enjoy guided tours of the Doge’s Palace, Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square. Everyone will have the opportunity to experience a gondola ride down the Grand Canal while enjoying one last meal in Italy before returning to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, August 16th.
