Oil Pressure Gauge Goes From 0 To 80. It drives like a dream. but i seem to have a problem with the oil psi reading. Unplug the connector to the oil pressure sensor with key on engine off when the gauge was at 80 psi. if the gauge goes to zero then its the sensor.

I saw a similar posting else where but the op never posted how he fixed the problem. Oil pressure gauge goes up to 80 when van is started and stays at 80 with out fluctuating. Unlike many of the gauges on a car which are understandable with common sense and simple logic. the oil pressure gauge sometimes seems to be erratic.

Oil pressure gauge is at 0 when engine off. when engine is on. the reading goes all the way to 80 and stays there. Another gauge needs to be connected to the car to check that oil pressure sensor or the gauge itself is not the problem.

It is most likely a defective oil pressure sending unit.. My car has an automatic transmission.

Oil pressure gauge reading too high. or over 80 psi while driving. especially at higher rpms. Unlike many of the gauges on a car which are understandable with common sense and simple logic. the oil pressure gauge sometimes seems to be erratic.
Oil Pressure Gauge Reads 80 Psi With Engine Off And Pegs Running.
Once i turn my truck on my oil gage automatically shoots straight up to 80 psi. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Have a mechanic check the oil level.
Oil Pressure Gauge Is At 0 When Engine Off. When Engine Is On. The Reading Goes All The Way To 80 And Stays There.
I had just stopped to get gas and added some techron additive. Cold weather can also make the oil pressure read low until the oil pump has had a chance to deliver the oil to the engine. If an independent gauge shows the same readings i would suspect a sticking oil pressure relief valve.
The Oil Pressure Sensor Is Known For Going Bad In The Wranglers But Since This Happened Right After You Changed Your Oil It A Little Too Much Of A Coincidence.
Posted on dec 28. 2012. If it goes higher than 80 or lower than 40.have it. I havent been racing it or anything. it just shot up shortly after startup and stayed at 80 during cruising speeds all the way home from work.
It Drives Like A Dream. But I Seem To Have A Problem With The Oil Psi Reading.
My car has an automatic transmission. Oil pressure gauge reading too high. or over 80 psi while driving. especially at higher rpms. When i start my car. the oil psi gauge will either go straight to 0 or 100.
If I Turn Turn The Key Forward Without Starting The Vehicle It Stays At 0 But Once The Truck Is On It Goes Straight Up To 80 And Doesnt Move While Driving.
When the oil pressure gauge reads 80 psi it means that there is an open sense circuit. So if the sensor is not bad. you may have a short to ground between the sensor and gauge cluster. For a baseline reading. check your owners manual for the manufacturers recommendation.
