Nintendo Switch Online subscribers were surprised today by the addition of three new titles from Sega Genesis. As Nintendo launched its new Expansion Pack tier of Switch Online, it began slowly adding new Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games to the vast catalog of retro titles available. Now, this Genesis offering has been spiced up a bit more as a classic game is now accessible from the console.
From that moment Nintendo has added Alisia Dragoons, Beyond the oasisand Earthworm Jim to Nintendo Switch Online. This means that the Genesis library on Nintendo Switch Online now totals around 30 games. And of all the new games brought to the subscription service now, Earthworm Jim is probably the most notable of the group. Though the series has been mostly dormant for the past two decades, the original game on Genesis remains a cult classic and is sure to be a welcome addition for many Switch Online members.

When it comes to the other two games mentioned, Alisia Dragoons is a one-off platformer released by Sega in 1992. Beyond the oasis, which received slightly more acclaim and later became a prequel to Sega Saturn, was first released in 1994 and also published by Sega. The game puts players in control of the character Prince Ali as they attempt to stop a growing evil.
As previously mentioned, all of the Genesis titles mentioned here are only available at the Switch Online expansion pack tier. While those who subscribe to the base level of the service can only access games from the NES and SNES, the expansion pack (which costs a bit more money) gives subscribers access to the N64 and Genesis games. In addition, the Expansion Pack also gives subscribers DLC Mario Kart 8 deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
