A big football day will herald New Year’s Day as usual, but as it falls on a Sunday this year, it is NFL in the spotlight instead of college football. Week 17 will bring 14 games, most of which will have playoff impact.

NFL games on TV today
Arizona in Atlanta, 1 p.m. on FOX/Live stream on fuboTV
The big bets in this game relate to the draft position as they are only separated by one game in the standings. Heading into the day, Arizona is scheduled to pick fourth and Atlanta sixth.
Chicago at Detroit, 1 p.m. on FOX/Live stream on fuboTV
The Lions’ playoff hopes were hit hard by last week’s loss, but it’s hard to find a better opponent than the listless Bears. Still, Justin Fields is talented enough to make any game interesting, especially against a defense as weak as Detroit’s.
Jacksonville in Houston, 1 p.m. on CBS/Live stream on fuboTV
The Jaguars have miraculously landed at the top of the AFC South, but that divisional crown will fall at next week’s game against the Titans, regardless of how that goes. Instead, this game will be a fascinating look at how good (or bad) a rebuild can be in a few years.
Denver in Kansas City, 1 p.m. on CBS/live stream on fuboTV
The Broncos have mercifully ended the Nathaniel Hackett experiment, but that just means interim head coach Jerry Rosburg has the toughest first job possible. Covering that 12.5 point spread, the day’s highest, would be a start.
Miami at New England, 1 p.m. on CBS/Live stream on fuboTV
The last AFC wildcard could well go to these teams, although the Dolphins can eliminate their rivals with a fifth straight win of the series. Miami will start Teddy Bridgewater after Tua Tagovailoa suffers another concussion.
Indianapolis at New York Giants, 1 p.m. on CBS/Live stream on fuboTV
The Giants are able to hole their postseason ticket with a win for the first time since 2016, which seems likely given the Colts’ five straight losses. However, they need a pretty big win to turn their minus 28 point difference into positives before the end of the season.
New Orleans in Philadelphia, 1 p.m. on FOX/Live Stream on fuboTV
The Eagles can finally set the No. 1 spot in the NFC with a win, which would also end the Saints’ slim playoff hopes. Gardner Minshew will seek his first win since Week 13 of the 2021 season if Jalen Hurts is unable to play.
Carolina in Tampa Bay, 1 p.m. on FOX/Live Stream on fuboTV
A win would give the Buccaneers the NFC South, but a loss would leave the division champion with a losing record. A Panthers win would come as no shock, especially after beating Tampa Bay 3-21 in Week 7 under interim head coach Steve Wilks.
Cleveland in Washington, 1 p.m. on FOX/Live stream on fuboTV
The Commanders’ playoff hopes are fading, so they turn their attention back to Carson Wentz. Perhaps the boom-or-bust quarterback can ignite a fire under an offense that hasn’t surpassed 20 points since Nov. 20.
San Francisco in Las Vegas, 4:05 p.m. on FOX/live stream on fuboTV
The Raiders are effectively moving away from Derek Carr as they will be starting Jarrett Stidham in this game. It’s worth noting that this is the first regular season game between these franchises since the Raiders moved to Las Vegas. They, of course, met for a preseason game in 2021 in the Bay Area.
New York Jets in Seattle, 4:05 p.m. on FOX/Live Stream on fuboTV
Geno Smith has a chance to pad his résumé as a free agent against his former team as those 7-8 rosters look to keep their post-season chances alive. The Jets will turn their attention back to Mike White after another disastrous performance from Zach Wilson.
Minnesota in Green Bay, 4:25 p.m. on CBS/live stream on fuboTV
Once again, the Vikings are underdogs in a division game despite already winning the NFC North. Minnesota can’t keep its unbeaten record in one-score games alive forever, can it? To do that, they need to defeat a highly motivated Aaron Rodgers this week.
Los Angeles Rams v Los Angeles Chargers 4:25 p.m. on CBS/Live stream on fuboTV
This game was bent out of the SNF slot without too much at stake. The Chargers have already secured a postseason spot and are almost certain of the No. 5 or 6 pick. The Rams don’t even have their own first round player, so this really is another Baker Mayfield audition.
Pittsburgh at Baltimore, 8:20 p.m. (SNF) on NBC/Live stream on fuboTV
A major rivalry with playoff implications and history at stake? Sign up with us. Lamar Jackson won’t be playing, but Steelers-Ravens games lately have almost always been one-score affairs, no matter who’s under middle.
