What were you doing on October 18, 2001? That was the last time we saw a Major League Baseball playoff game in Seattle. Until October 15, 2022, that is. After four straight playoff games in their first postseason since Ichiro’s rookie year, the Mariners can finally play at home again and host Game 3 in their ALDS matchup against Houston on Saturday. The Astros lead 2-0 in the best-of-five ALDS after two comeback wins.
In front of their own fans, the Mariners finished last and went with a scoreless game in 12th place behind a dominant start from George Kirby, but couldn’t prevail against Houston’s own pitching staff.
