Ahead of the 2022 World Leagues, Riot Games has now announced Lil Nas X as its new one League of Legends President. According to Riot Games, the beloved artist will be “responsible for creating explosive musical moments, an awesome League champion skin, and a spectacular Live Worlds performance.”
“I felt like it was time to try something new. I’ve shaped pop culture in so many ways, and now it’s time to conquer the world of gaming. I will be the greatest president of League of Legends, any times. Also, I’m going to do the best Worlds anthem ever and host the biggest, coolest, sexiest Worlds in Worlds history!” said Lil Nas X. “‘STAR WALKIN’ is the only song anyone can listen to from now on . Swag fr!”
As his first assignment as President, this year Lil Nas X will open Worlds with a performance of the musical anthem “STAR WALKIN” at the annual Worlds Opening Ceremony presented by Mastercard on September 29th. “STAR WALKIN” will officially premiere on September 23 ahead of the 2022 League World Cup.
New League of Legends Champion K’Sante, the Pride of Nazumah, will also receive a unique co-designed vanity skin on November 3rd, which can be unlocked until November 14th. Referred to as the Prestige Empyrean K’Sante skin, the in-game skin Riot Games and Lil Nas X cosmetic upgrades can only be unlocked through play League of Legends or Teamfight Tactics Earn 2,000 Worlds 2022 tokens.
“Lil Nas X is the most electric name in music and when he showed up at our headquarters and told us he wanted to be president of league and joining us through Worlds, of course we said yes,” said Naz Aletaha, Global Head of League Esports for Riot Games. “We were all blown away by his vision, passion and undeniable style and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the World Cup stage in San Francisco this November.”
