Day 2 at the Islamic Solidarity Games
On the second day of weightlifting, four bodyweight categories were organized, where spectators could also witness a match record!
In the women’s 55 kg category, Natasya Beteyob of Indonesia won the gold medal with 195 kg. The silver medal went to Kristina Shermetova of Turkmenistan with 194 kg, while the bronze medal went to Poupak Basami of the Islamic Republic of Iran with 165 kg.
The women’s 59 kg category was the second women’s competition in 59 kg in which Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games bronze medalist Zulfiya Chinshanlo of Kazakhstan achieved the gold medal at 220 kg.
Adijat Adenike Olarinoye, multiple African champion, 2021 IWF World Championship silver medalist and 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist, won the silver medal at 202 kg.
Nelly of Indonesia took bronze with 197kg.
Men’s competition started with 61kg on 2nd Day Ricko Saputra grabbed Indonesia’s second gold medal of the day with 291 kg.
2021 IWF World Championship bronze medalist Seraj Alsaleem of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won silver with 277 kg and the bronze medal went to Otepbergen Aliyev of Kazakhstan with 271 kg.
The men’s 67 kg was won by the 2018 and 2019 World Junior Champion, Ergashev Adkhamjon of Uzbekistan, with 314 kg, ahead of his teammate and 2021 World Champion, Doston Yokubov, who only reached 305 kg.
The bronze medal was won by Yusuf Fehmi Genç of Turkey with 305 kg, who also broke the clean & jerk game record in front of his home crowd.
