East Carolina near Cincinnati
Fri 11 Nov | 8 p.m. | ESPN2
Scoring: Cincinnati -5
FPI Pick: Cincinnati 67.0%
East Carolina (6-3, 3-2). The Pirates, who have won four times in their last five games, have a dominant 21-point win over a now-ranked UCF, themselves playing for first place in the conference this weekend. Holton Ahlers is for over 2,600 yards and has 18 touchdowns and just five picks this year, and he ran for two points in a key win against BYU last weekend. ECU can jump to third place in the table with a win here.
Cincinnati (7-2, 4-1). Just 11 combined points keeps the Bearcats from going unbeaten and a narrow loss to UCF keeps them from atop the AAC rankings and there’s one game left against current league leader Tulane to set things up over the next few weeks to clarify. Ben Bryant hit 63.3% of his passes for 2,358 yards with 18 touchdowns and 6 picks. His top target remains Tyler Scott, who leads Cincy with 686 yards and eight touchdown grabs.
Choosing between East Carolina and Cincinnati: College Football HQ believes Cincinnati has a 69 percent chance of winning and will defeat East Carolina 29-20.
Colorado ranked 8th USC
Fri 11 Nov | 9:30 p.m. | FS1
Scoring: USC -35
FPI selection: USC 98.0%
Colorado (1-8, 1-5). Not much to write home about for the Buffaloes, who underwent a coaching change midseason after a historically poor start. The offense is good for 15.6 points per game and allows for more than 40 while giving up 232 on the ground every time. Colorado could get some traction if he runs the ball against Southern Cal’s rush defense in 66th place.
USC (8-1, 6-1). Still on the fringes of the college football playoff hunt, the Trojans took some flak for being ranked ahead of UCLA despite not having wins against ranked teams and in Utah against the one top-25 team on their schedule had lost. Still, this offensive can play with anyone and is in the process of bringing back top receiver Jordan Addison to widen the field. The USC defense leaves a lot to be desired despite their early aggressive play, has held many of those games too tight and will need to use the buffs as target practice with the Pac-12 title race looming.
Choosing between Colorado and USC: College Football HQ reckons USC has a 99 percent chance of winning the game outright and will defeat Colorado 48-16.
State of Fresno at UNLV
Fri 11 Nov | 10:30 p.m. | CBSSN
Scoring: Fresno State -9.5
FPI pick: Fresno State 65.2%
Fresno State (5-4, 4-1). The Bulldogs have rebounded well since losing four straight and winning the next four, including two 40-plus performances since quarterback Jake Haener returned. Fresno has also developed a consistent passing rush, led by senior David Perales, who is third nationally in sacks per game.
UNLV (4-5, 2-3). The Rebels have lost their last four straight games, conceding over 40 points while scoring 10 or fewer in three of them. The team is 89th nationally with 135.6 yards per game but has a capable back in Aidan Robbins, who is 700+ yards a year with 8 scores and averaging nearly five yards per carry.
