When i start to accelerate it would normally go up to a 2 but instead it is going to almost 3. Locate the boat fuel sending unit. The rpm gauge didnt read correctly but the hour meter always worked and the gauge had continuity.
I just attributed it to a faulty gauge. At wot it reads almost 6500rpm.
Using a voltmeter (not a test light). measure across the red wire and black wire coming from the tachometer while the engine is running. For example. most rpm gauges in cars will say something along the lines of rpm x1.000. multiply the number indicated by your rpm gauge needle with the proper scale if necessary.
In the driveway during setup i had all the gauges working. See if the reading on the tachometer is more accurate.
