ACCS, Cathedral postponed both MAIS District 3-5A games due to bad weather

GALLMAN — Tuesday’s sustained rounds of severe thunderstorms and torrential rain, including large hail that hit part of the Miss Lou region in the afternoon and evening, were too much for the local high school basketball teams.

Especially Adams County Christian School and Cathedral High School. Both their junior varsity and varsity cadres were scheduled to return to action that day in MAIS District 3-5A. ACCS would go to Gallman to take over Copiah Academy, while Cathedral would go to Madison to take over St. Joseph Catholic School of Madison.

Instead, both four-set games were postponed due to inclement weather. ACCS Rebels head coach Matthew Freeman said Wednesday morning that the JV and varsity games will be played at Copiah Academy on Monday, January 23, starting at 4 p.m

“The area we were traveling to was going to be bad because of the weather when we come back,” Freeman said. “Both schools have agreed to postpone the games. It was a decision by the school board. We and Copiah have agreed to reschedule the games to a later date.”

The ACCS on Thursday hosts Centerville Academy for four games starting at 4:00 p.m. and then hosts opponent St. Aloysius High School from District 3-5A for four games starting at 4:00 p.m

Cathedral moved to St. Joe Madison

MADISON – After going 2-0 in the Amite School Center Christmas Tournament last week, both Cathedral High School Lady Green Wave and Green Wave varsity teams and JV teams were ready to go back on court as seeded to take on St. Joe Madison.

Unfortunately, Taylor Strahan, who coaches not only the varsity girls’ and varsity boys’ teams but also the two junior varsity teams, replied in an email on Wednesday morning that the inclement weather would not allow it. Instead, the games were postponed to Wednesday from 4 p.m

After that, Cathedral hosts District 3-5A’s Copiah Academy for five games on Friday starting at 3:30 p.m. and then heads out again, this time to Flowood, to face Jackson Preparatory School for seven games on Saturday at 11 a.m
